My Favourite Subjects

Hello guys, how ya' doin? Whoa, what a busy semester and finally! I almost reach the end of the 7th semester. Several weeks later, the final exam will begin and I have to prepare myself to face it. By the way, now, I want to tell you a brief story about what is my favourite subjects after this 7th semesters that I have been learnt started from the 1st semester until now. Actually, there are so many subjects that I learnt from any subjects like from Linguistics, Translation, Teaching, and Literature. So, from that main subjects, what is my major and what is the subject that I love? Actually I'm taking Translation as my main subject since my department only give us two choices of main subjects which are Translation and Teaching, so I choose Translation due to fact that I'm not really like to teach someone (is it?), But, but, even my major is Translation but I love Literature so much. HOW? How that I really love Literature so much? Well, main reason I love it because I love to learn something that related to the cultural, literary works such as poem, poetry, drama, and the important thing that I love since when I was in the junior school is history. Yes, maybe you guys will ask just like my friends that why I love history? I believed that by learning history, we can know who we are, what is our identitity (nationalism yeay!) and also we can know the others history that has been made by human and that was awesome you know! Anyway, I don't want to discuss that kind of things in this session. Let's discuss about what is my favourite subjects that I have been learnt until 7th semester. Let's discuss it one by one so maybe you can get and know what is the subjects that I learn as an English Language & Culture student so maybe one day you are interested to apply as an English Language & Culture student like me (promotion?).

After many subjects that I learnt until this 7th semester, there are several subjects that I love which are first is about the Cultural Studies like American Studies, British Studies, and Australian Studies. Second are English for Specific Purpose Studies like English For Journalists, English For Public Relation, and also English For Secretary. Third and last was anything that related to the Literature Studies like Film & Literature, Introduction to Drama, and also Introduction to Contemporary Literature. Whoa, Whoa, wait a minute, are you sure with that subjects? Absoultely yes, because on those subjects, I feel like my passion about English on that subjects are strong and I'm never bored or sleepy to learnt it at the class. Why I can love those subjects? there are several strong reasons why I love those subjects.
     1. First is about passion. If you know your passion and you love it, and whoala, you will enjoy to learn the thing that you love. After you love it and you got the passion on it, you will do your best effort to get the best score on it. In here, I know the passion since my junior school time. At this university level, I'm trying to expand my passion on that subjects to get the maximum scores. Once you get it, you will very grateful with your own work and it will be invaluable moment.
     2. Second are about the subjects that will be very useful for you at your job's life. Journalists, Public Relation, Secretary, or job in the Embassy is the dream job for me and several persons. So it is the best subjects to learn and to prepare yourself about what will you do next later on at your career.

Anyway, what is the reason why I tell this story about my experience? Well, since on the 8th semester that I will only focused on the thesis, and also my SKS is complete to proceed for the thesis, there will be no more subjects beside final project (skripsi in Bahasa Indonesia).

So, what is the conclusion for you that I want to give? The conclusion is simple, find your passion and fight for it to get the best result on it. It is very, very important for your career and also your future later on. Beside that, there is no useless thing that you have been learnt. Everything is USEFUL for you to use it for your future. That's all for this simple post that maybe can help you to get some ideas and my message is "Whatever what is your passion, find it, learn it, maximize it! Never give up, discipline yourself, and responsible at your work!"

Don't Cry for Me Argentina

Good evening my fellow reader, today i'd like to post something about song again. Yes, I like to post about music sometime. By the way, I post this music because when I listen this music and findng about the background or the meaning of the music, it is the interesting thing for me. It is a good way to get more knowledge and kill the bored itself. About the music, the name of the song is "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" sung by Madonna. The song itself, well it is a little bit old song. It is recorded on 1976. I give you the background of this song, so you can understand what the meaning of this music due it is have a historical and maybe romantic things to know.

Background :
"Don't Cry for Me Argentina" is a song composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Tim Rice. It was first recorded by Julie Covington on the 1976 concept album Evita, and was later included in the 1978 stage musical of the same name. Sung by the title character Eva Perón, it appears early in the second act as Evita addresses the crowd from the balcony of the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and features a sweeping melody tied to broad emotional themes of regret and defiance, characteristic of Lloyd Webber's most popular songs. The song shares its melody with "Oh What a Circus" and "Eva's Final Broadcast" from the same show. Rice and Lloyd Webber received the 1977 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. The song has since been recorded by many other performers. The title of the song comes from an epitaph on a plaque at Evita Peron's grave in the La Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires. The plaque was presented by the city's taxi drivers' union and roughly translates as: "Don't cry for me Argentina, I remain quite near to you.
Evita itself is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. It concentrates on the life of Argentine political leaderEva Perón, the second wife of Argentine president, Juan Perón. The story follows Evita's early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death. The musical began as a rock opera concept album released in 1976. Its success led to productions in London's West End in 1978, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical, and on Broadway a year later, where it was the first British musical to receive the Tony Award for Best Musical. This has been followed by a string of professional tours and worldwide productions and numerous cast albums, as well as a major1996 film of the musical starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas. The musical was revived in London in 2006, and on Broadway in 2012. The show is being revived in the West End once again in 2014 at the Dominion Theatre.
And for the lyrics is :
Don't Cry for Me Argentina
By : Madonna

It won't be easy, you'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
That I still need your love after all that I've done

You won't believe me
All you will see is a girl you once knew
Although she's dressed up to the nines
At sixes and sevens with you

I had to let it happen, I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life down at heel
Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun

So I chose freedom
Running around, trying everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
I never expected it to

Don't cry for me Argentina
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance

And as for fortune, and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired

They are illusions
They are not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you and hope you love me

Don't cry for me Argentina

Don't cry for me Argentina
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance

Have I said too much?
There's nothing more I can think of to say to you.
But all you have to do is look at me to know
That every word is true
So, from the song above, we can see a historical thing and also a romantic thing for me I think. This song is sung with a little bit of British accent, so it looks more sophisticated. I hope you get more knowledge after know about this song. Okay, that's all about a simple post about a song named "Don't Cry for Me Argentina", I'm out and thank you.
